I urgently bring to your attention the critical situation of the most prominent political prisoner of our times, Mr. Imran Khan, whose detention conditions starkly violate the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), integral to our GSP+ engagement with the European Union.

Mr. Khan's health is at risk due to an eye infection and dental issues. Regrettably, he is denied access to preferred medical professionals and timely care, contravening Article 10 of the ICCPR. Furthermore, recent impositions, including a media ban and a meeting embargo, severely limit his rights to legal counsel and family contact, undermining his human dignity and Pakistan's commitments under GSP+.

We seek the EU delegation's immediate intervention to urge Pakistani authorities to adhere to their GSP+ obligations by ensuring Mr. Khan's humane treatment and access to necessary medical care.
Your prompt attention to this dire matter is critical for upholding the mutual values underpinning our partnership with the EU. We are grateful for your support and look forward to your swift action.
