I stand for freedom of expression and religion or belief. However, these are being denied and weaponised by the government of Pakistan.

The current Pakistani government, which came into being after a regime change scheme, is abusing blasphemy laws, a highly sensitive issue in Pakistan, for political vendetta against political rivals. It is widely believed that this is an attempt to encourage the extra-judicial murder of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The government is also harassing and intimidating journalists and civil society activists.

These actions are against the norms of democracy and a blatant violation of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

>Article 19: Right to freedom of opinion and expression
>Article 18: Freedom of religion or belief
>Article 3: Right to life

I am requesting your office:

1>For an urgent intervention to take up this matter at the appropriate forums
2>Put out a statement on social media (or letter) supporting our freedom of expression and making it clear that the Pakistan government cannot use force to repress our struggle for genuine democracy
3>Initiate process for sanctions and visa restrictions on the mastermind behind this, the Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah, supported by Federal Minister of Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar and other ministers involved.
